Eagles

This term our topic is called ‘Urban Pioneers’

The children will be completing a local area study of Dunton Green for this topic. Talking about different areas of Dunton Green, what is available for people who live and work in Dunton Green? This will involve the children walking around Dunton Green and recording the different things they see.

As well as learning all about the local area we are also covering the following in the curriculum this term:

Literacy – free verse poetry, autobiographies, email, signs and slogans.

Maths - Addition and subtraction to 1000 to solve problems, multiplication and division, measures and fractions to solve problems.

Mental maths - Read and write number to 100 in numerals and words, partition three digit numbers in different ways. How many possibilities? Counting in multiples of 2,3,4,5,8,10, 50 and 100, double and halve any number up to 200, add and subtract mentally: 2 two digit numbers, Three digit numbers and ones, tens and hundreds, identify and describe 2d and 3d shapes, find 1, 10 or 100 more less than a given number.

Science – Light, dark and shadows.

Art and design – Arts week, graffiti, photography, sketching.

Computing – Survey and analysis.

 Geography – sketch maps, local area study.

 PE – Athletics

 Please continue to read with your child every day and that they bring in their reading record.

PE is on Wednesday and Friday. We recommend the children keep their PE kits in school all week just in case of a change in timetable.

Children will be given homework on Fridays and this should be returned on the following Wednesday.
