Who are our Governors?

The Governing Body of Dunton Green Primary School comprises 12 total (3 x Parent, 1 x LEA, 1 x Staff, 1 x Headteacher, 5 x Co-opted) plus 1 Associate members.  There is also a Clerk to the Governors.

Mrs Sarah Brown - Chair of Governors

Sarah Brown was appointed as a Local Authority governor in 2014. She was elected Vice-Chair in March 2016 and appointed Chair in November 2016. She is a member of the Finance and Resources Committee and the Personal Development, Wellbeing & Behaviour Committee and is also the lead governor for mathematics, a subject she has loved since she was a child.

Sarah was a Senior Civil Servant in the Department of Trade and Industry for many years where her responsibilities included company law, financial services regulation and personal management.  Having taken early retirement, she has had a wide variety of roles in the public, regulatory and charity sectors including Vice Chair of a Primary Care Trust, member of the Competition Commission, and lay member of the Bar Standards Board.  She is currently a lay member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and a trustee of two charities.

Sarah is married and has lived in Sevenoaks for over 40 years.

 

Ms Tracey Boanas - Headteacher

 

  Mrs Karen Forster-Pearce - Co-opted

Karen became a Community Governor in 2009 and has been a Co-Opted Governor since 2015.  She has special responsibilities with the Early Years Foundation Stage and Governors Training and Development - informing Governors of forthcoming Training sessions they can attend.  Karen is a representative at the District Governor Forum and a member of the Strategies and Teaching Achievement Committee. She enjoys coming into school to see all the staff and children in their learning environment.

Karen keeps herself busy supporting charities and organisations, as Trustee, Secretary and at fund-raising events which she enjoys and is active in the local community.  She has worked in the Magistrates’ Court and Facilities Management Company.  Karen now works in the Social Housing Sector.  She attends the local Church and has one teenage child.

  Mrs Kim Bayley - Co-opted

Kim was appointed to the Governing body in June 2011.

As well as being District Councillor for Dunton Green and Riverhead she has a day job as CEO of a trade association which works closely with a number of educational bodies such as the Brit School, Youth Music Theatre and the Video Standards Council.  Prior to her current role she worked for over a decade as a lawyer and an investment banker. 

Kim has two teenagers who are now both at Tonbridge Grammar sixth form and her own studies saw her study not only in the UK but in France and Germany as well.

Mr Mark Craig - Co-opted

 

 

  Mr Jason Bellissimo - Co-opted

 Jason Bellissimo is a board member that was elected in November 2015.  He also serves on STA committee.  His primary motivation for joining the board is to give back to the community and to help DGPS become the best school possible for the students.  Outside of his duties on the board, Jason runs his own financial advisory business, which he started after his previous career in the city.  He came to the UK in 2006 to study at the London School of Economics and holds a deep interest in finance.

  Mr Chris Gush - Co-opted

Chris became a Co-opted Governor in May 2016 and is a member of the Pupil Development Committee and Pay and Rewards Committee. 

Chris has spent many years leading healthcare organisations innovate and improve the quality of care that they deliver. He is currently Executive Director at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Charity.

Chris spends as much time as possible with his two young children and is a keen runner and Rugby enthusiast. 

  Mr Rowland Constantine - Co-opted

Rowland Constantine is delighted to have been elected as a Governor at Dunton Green Primary School.  He was originally elected as an Associate Member and became a full Governor in February 2017.

Now retired, he has worked in schools throughout his career at Junior and Senior School level, in both state and Independent sectors. For most of that time, he has been head teacher of two preparatory schools; he has also been pleased to serve as School Governor and Chair of Governors in other school settings.

He is an unreformed idealist as far as schools are concerned, believing strongly in their potential for enhancing children’s lives not only materially but also in terms of their enjoyment of life in areas such as sport, art, music and drama.

He will take special interest at Dunton Green in Standards, Teaching and Assessment as well as Literacy.

He is married with three children and four grandchildren and has lived in Sevenoaks for the past 40 years.

  Mrs Nicole Pomies - Parent Governor

Nicole became a Parent Governor in June 2013 and chairs the Strategies, Teaching and Achievement Committee.  She also has special responsibility for Safeguarding and Internet Safety.

Nicole has three children, two of which still attend the school and has lived in the village her whole life - even attending the school herself as a child.  Since her eldest joined the school in 2009 she has been an active member of the PTA.

Nicole has spent most of her working career at BT and loves her job.  In her spare time Nicole enjoys shopping, reading and spending time with her family.

Mrs Lee Roughton - Parent Governor

Lee has lived in Dunton Green for 11 years and has twin boys currently attending the school.  Lee has worked for several large companies as a Management Accountant and Financial Controller and now works for one of the country's largest Professional Education companies, managing a team of Accountancy and Tax authors and tutors.

Outside of work, Lee is an active member and current Treasurer of the PTA and enjoys visiting the theatre and spending time with family and friends.

  Miss Gemma Wood - Staff Appointed

Gemma has been a teacher for 4 years, She joined Dunton Green Primary School in September 2014 and currently teaches our Reception Class.  Gemma was elected the Staff Appointed Governor in December 2014 and is a member of the Pupil Development, Wellbeing & Behaviour Committee (PDC).

Gemma grew up in the local area and attended the local Secondary School.  She enjoys walking with her 2 dogs in her leisure time.

  Mrs Clare Rose - Associate Member

Clare has been a Governor (associate member) at Dunton Green Primary school since September 2015.

She has previously held a Staff Governor post at another Primary School in Sevenoaks, where she worked for 4 years.

She has worked in Education for many years, as a class teacher, EAL Advisor, NQT Mentor, Subject Leader, Link Tutor in Teacher Training for Canterbury Christchurch University and now Deputy Head and Inclusion Manager at Dunton Green.

Clare has lived in Sevenoaks for 18 years and has 2 children who attended local primary schools and Grammar Schools in the local area.

Ms Tracy Godden - Clerk to the Governors

Tracy was appointed as Clerk to the Governing Body in May 2008 and has seen many changes in the role and responsibilities of the Governing Body in that time.
Tracy has close working ties with the wider Dunton Green community as she is also the Clerk to Dunton Green Parish Council, a position that she has held since 2006.


Tracy has two teenage children who attend grammar schools in Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells and when not working enjoys walks with her two dogs.
