Achievement

At Dunton Green we strongly believe that achievement occurs in a range of ways, not least of which is through persistant effort across all subjects and producing personal bests through hard work and application.  To this end, we not only celebrate success in National Tests but also through a good mark in a spelling test, an improvement in behaviour, a music exam, a sporting success.  We celebrate these successes in weekly Celebration Assemblies, through Headteacher awards (which can be given to any nominated child at any time), through inclusion on our “WOW WALL” and through public celebration on our weekly newsletter.

Early Years

The Foundation Stage profile is split into 17 different areas. A breakdown of comparative data between us and local schools in each of these areas (all checked by an external moderator) clearly shows that we are beating both national and local data in all bar 3 areas of the curriculum.

Comparisons to the previous year show that in 2012-2013 we were below national and local averages in combined subjects with 53.3% of children achieving a good level of development in total.  In 2013-2014 this jumped to 73.7% of children achieving a good level of development and has fallen to 66% for 2014-2015.  Despite this, with a class 1/3 EAL and 1/3 summer born, from the time that they entered Foundation Stage until the time that they finished the children have made outstanding progress in the past year across ALL areas of learning.

Phonics Test

In 2015 -16, following intensive work by the school,  the pass rate rose sharply to 70% for year one pupils and 50% for those taking retakes. The Senior Leadership Team continue to work tirelessly to ensure that results continue to rise at a rapid rate through consistently outstanding teaching.  A new phonics champion has been designated within th school who will take on responsibility for training in phonics and ensuring that the highest standards are achieved by all who deliver it.

 Key Stage 1 SATS

Significant improvements have been made in Key Stage 1 attainment over the past year despite the raising of standards under the new assessment framework.  The SLT acknowledge that there is more to do and have a clear action plan for improving standards year on year.
